Sixth-Grade Exhibits Policy

The Eastern Iowa Science and Engineering Fair (EISEF) now accepts exhibits from 6th-grade students, starting with the 2007 FairWe made this change in response to long-term pleas from eastern Iowa's middle-school teachers.  It brought us into step with Iowa's other ISEF-affiliated fairs, SSTFI and SCISEF.

The 6th-graders compete as juniors, under the same rules and in the same divisions (biological, physical, or team) as the 7th- and 8th-grade students.

We urge teachers to select their strongest 6th-grade projects to bring to EISEF.  We don't plan to limit the number of exhibits per school or per division;  but if we run short of exhibit space or judges we may have to turn exhibits away—and we'll start with the 6th-graders.

Welcome aboard, sixth-graders!  Have fun doing your experiments—we'll see you on March 21, 2009.
