No, we do not conduct background checks on anyone who works at EISEF.
We don’t need to vet our workers, because none of them is ever alone with a student.
- The students spend most of Fair Day in public, out in the Mall. They’re surrounded by other students, watched by their teachers and parents, and no EISEF judge or other adult will spend more than a few minutes with any of them.
- In the afternoon, the Senior Finalist interviews take place in private, but in the presence of several adults:
- A Fair official escorts the Finalist student or team from their exhibit to the interview area.
- A different Fair official monitors each interview room and calls time when the interview needs to end.
- 3–4 Finalist judges interview each student or team, with the monitor sitting just outside the room.
- In the afternoon, the students are mostly free to roam the Mall, go shopping, and visit the awesome senior exhibits. The EISEF judges have left by now, or at least, they’re no longer working for the Fair.
- In the evening comes the completely public Awards Ceremony: all the students, all their teachers, all their parents are there.
