Project Title: Modeling Iowa River Bioremediation: Spectrophotometric Analysis of Pollutants
Description: Iowa River water was sample and tested for common runoff pollutants, such as nitrate, phosphate, and ammonia. Once a baseline was established the water was split between four containers each with a different bioremediation treatment (the fourth being control). Spectrophotometric instruments were used to measure the changes in the pollutants over the course of three months.

Project Title: Impact Analysis of Polyvinyl Butyral and Sorbothane Windshield Interlayer for Jet Planes
Description: Special consideration is needed for the design of the jet plane windshield. Specifically, determining if windshield design or composition is possible to further reduce the tendency for windshields to crack upon impact is investigated. This research analyzes stresses and strains on PVB interlayers compared to Sorbothane interlayers with the suspicion that Sorbothane would be a more reliable material. Autodesk Inventor Professional 2016 (Inventor), a CAD software with finite element analysis (FEA), was used to conduct the research.

Project Title: Applications of GravityLight Technology for Ultraviolet Light Sanitation
Description: A prototype was developed and tested using gravitational forces with GravityLight technology to power an Ultraviolet light. Varying weight and light source combinations including Ultraviolet A-C were adapted for GravityLight use. Water samples tested before and after ultraviolet treatment as evaluated by colony count and spectrophotometer were found to have significance. Ultraviolet lights were able to be powered and charged with the GravityLight. Prototype design and implementation were found to be effective for water and surface sanitation.
