Virtual Mentoring available from JSHS (June 5, 2022)
We received the following email from :
JSHS Teachers,
We realize this is a very busy time of the year, however we just wanted to pass along the Chronus Virtual Mentoring link provided by National JSHS. It’s a freely available platform to match students with mentors and it’s available to students anytime during the year. If you have students who are planning to do some of their work over the summer, it might be a great resource for them.

Have a great end of the school year and we look forward to seeing you again next year!

2022 Photo Album
- Awards Ceremony: We’ve posted the photos of all the award recipients.
- 100% coverage! This year, we got photos of all of the student exhibits and posted them.
- We have more photos from the Fair. We just need to post to them to photo album and caption them.
- Do you have photos from the Fair that you’d like to share? please e-mail them .
Call for photos (March 24, 2022)
Share your pictures with us. Did you take photos at EISEF 2022? Please send them to , and encourage others to do the same. We’ll edit them as needed and post them to the EISEF website. We’ll leave them there indefinitely, so everyone can freely view them, download, and print them.
What are we looking for? Check out our Photo Albums from the past few years, and you’ll see the sorts of photos we prize. Perennial favorites:
- Posed pictures of the student(s) at their exhibit.
(Try to get the exhibit number and the project title in the picture — they help identify the student(s).) - Candid pictures of the students talking to judges.
- Area shots, capturing a moment among the exhibits, at check-in, etc.
- Group shots of all the students from your school.
Simply email the photographs from your phone or digital camera in whatever format it offers. The larger the number of pixels and the lower the compression, the better the picture. Then . Don’t alter the picture — we’ll crop and resize it as needed.
In the text of your email, please describe what the photos show and give names to the people who appear in them.
All photos you send us will become the property of the Eastern Iowa Science and Engineering Fair (EISEF). EISEF will edit and publish the photos solely at its discretion.

Advisory for students about ISEF (March 10, 2022)
In January, the International Science and Engineering (ISEF) announced its 2022 policies for attendees during COVID-19. Here are some important ways the policies affect you, our Senior Champions and Junior Champions:
The hybrid ISEF (virtual and in-person)
- You Senior Champions (ISEF calls you “Finalists”) have to choose:
- Will you compete in-person in Atlanta, Georgia?
- Or will you compete virtually, from Iowa?
- Either way, you’ll have to complete a virtual display within the ProjectBoard platform.
- The instructions are 11 pages long: ProjectBoard — Virtual Display Guidelines. Better start reading them right after you win at EISEF.
- If you compete in-person, you’ll also have to provide a physical display board for the exhibit hall in Atlanta. (This is like any other year at ISEF.)
COVID-19 policies (if you go in-person)
- All attendees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, at least 14 days before ISEF starts. (You must receive your final dose by April 24.)
- Attendees must wear masks indoors, except while actively eating or drinking.
- The Regeneron ISEF 2022 COVID-19 Policy has the full details.
ISEF 2022 Policies for attendees (January 18, 2022)
We received the following email from :
Hello Fair Director/Fair Contact,
I hope your new year is off to a good start! We are pleased to share with you the Project Material Guidelines for Regeneron ISEF 2022. You can find them here: https://sspcdn.blob.core.windows.net/files/Documents/SEP/ISEF/2022/Resources/Project-Material-Guidelines.pdf. As a reminder, all finalists must complete a virtual booth regardless of whether they are participating virtually or in-person. This document lists the materials that must be uploaded to the virtual booth and provides guidance on each part. Please note that in-person finalists are also required to create a physical board for in-person judging and presentation.
We are also pleased to share with you more details about the dates and format of both virtual and in-person judging. Virtual judging will take place the week prior to the in-person event on Wednesday, May 4 and Thursday, May 5. Categories will be split across the two days with any given category being completed in one day. We anticipate changes in the format of the day compared to Regeneron ISEF 2021 and are finalizing those details. We will share that information once final. In-person judging will take place on Tuesday, May 10. The format of in-person judging remains unchanged from previous in-person ISEFs.
Lastly, we know that there are many questions around the COVID-19 protocol at Regeneron ISEF 2022. You can find our up-to-date policy here: https://www.societyforscience.org/isef/2022-covid-19-policy/. That webpage will be continuously updated as we finalize the protocol. We are also investigating a variety of travel insurance options that fairs can select to participate in that might address some of the concerns around the expenses related to a student being affected during the trip.
Best,
Hunter Hart

As promised, we wanted to share the RISE Toolkit and other important information with you so you can share within your community! You can find more information below:
Do you know a brilliant 15–17 year old?
Encourage students to apply to Rise to receive a lifetime of support as they work to serve others.
First, share one of the RISE Flyers in the link to the RISE Toolkit below with the appropriate group (adult or student). Click this link: https://gethelloorg.page.link/Vww8. You can also feel free to edit the text in this email, as you feel appropriate to share the attachments.
RISE Toolkit: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/73jvhtbtxoum111/AAAY6G2Kmr7K56fy5q9FkBQsa?dl=3D0. This includes flyers, social media blurbs and other helpful information. Simply go to: https://gethelloorg.page.link/Vww8 to have your students start the application.
Rise (http://www.risefortheworld.org/) is a program that finds brilliant people who need opportunity and supports them for life as they work to serve others. The program starts at ages 15–17 and offers access to ‘’‘benefits that last a lifetime including scholarships, mentorship, access to career development opportunities, funding’‘’, and more as Global Winners work toward solving humanity’s most pressing problems.
We’re a proud partner of Rise, alongside Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust. We also believe that ‘’‘educators, parents, and community leaders are uniquely positioned ‘’‘to help us find talented young people who may go undiscovered or unsupported otherwise — which is why we’re emailing you about this opportunity.
Unlike many traditional applications, Rise uses videos, projects, and group interviews so applicants have multiple opportunities to showcase their potential.
Everyone who applies joins a global community of leaders and gains access to free online courses and opportunities from Rise partners around the world. Up to 500 Finalists are selected to participate in “Finalist Days”, then 100 Global Winners are chosen each year to receive benefits for life to help them scale their impact.
In its first year, Rise connected talented young people from over 170 countries, with Global Winners hailing from 42 countries across 6 continents. Meet the first-ever cohort of 2021 Global Winners here <http://www.risefortheworld.org/global-winners>!
All applicants must be 15–17 years old as of July 1, 2022. If you know a talented young person, send them our unique link to apply today: https://gethelloorg.page.link/Vww8.
Learn more about Rise and the application at www.risefortheworld.org.
